First it was the 2014 FIFA Ballon d'Or, and now it could be the German Football Ambassador for Nadine Angerer.
The Portland Thorns FC goalkeeper has been nominated to take over the role of Ambassador. She is up against 10 other German players--nine men and one woman--who play outside the confines of their home country. Other candidates include Arsenal's Mesut Özil and Lukas Podolski as well as Lazio's Miroslav Klose. If elected to the position, Angerer will serve as the official representative for German football abroad.
In her first game as a Thorn on Apr. 12, Angerer collected two saves and a shutout in a 1-0 victory against the Houston Dash.
Fans will be able to vote for Angerer as their ballot for the Ambassador position. Voting closes on Apr. 20, so get voting!
