PORTLAND, Ore. – Most would consider it a trip of a lifetime. A team of 10 local youth players (ages 14-15) selected from adidas Timbers Alliance clubs, led by Timbers Youth Sporting Director Mike Smith, is off to Germany to compete in the FC Bayern Youth Cup, an international, 7v7 tournament held by FC Bayern Munich.
It will be a full six days in Germany for the adidas Timbers Alliance team, with games against teams from other countries, training at Bayern Munich facilities with club coaches, and time to experience German culture. The adidas Timbers Alliance team will play in Group A against teams from India, Thailand and Austria, during the FC Bayern Youth Cup.
The team is made up of players from the seven adidas Timbers Alliance clubs.

adidas Timbers Alliance Team in Germany | Sunday, May 18

We finally arrived in Germany. It took a total of 14 hours, but we finally made it! The plane was nice and it seemed like a very quick ride. We watched multiple movies that were very long, different people were doing different things and it was good bonding for this team to come together and become more of a unit.
When we landed in Munich, we got to see two of the teams that we are going to compete against in the tournament – China, and Japan. It was pretty cool because we got to ride the bus with them to the facility, but we didn't talk that much at first. When we got to the facility, our team was very happy where we were staying at. When we got our room keys, we quickly took our bags and put them in our room and headed to dinner. The food was pretty good, especially the pasta. As soon as we finished eating, we went on a team walk around the facility. We got to see all the fields and the buildings that had the pool, basketball court, and a bunch of more stuff. When we were heading back inside, the Japan team saw us an asked us if we wanted to play. It was really fun and a great way to get along with the Japan team. We played for about an hour. And we all decided to go back to the facility and rest for tomorrow's first training session with the Bayern Munich coaches.
