PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland is known as Soccer City, USA. A moniker bestowed upon the Rose City in the mid 1970s for its support of soccer, in particular the professional game. From Day 1 of the National Women's Soccer League, Portland Thorns FC supporters have carried over the traditions and support that make Portland a special place for the game and have set a new standard for support of women's professional soccer.
