HILLSBORO, Ore. — Midfielder Foster Langsdorf tallied his first goal of the season as the Timbers U-23s played to a 1-1 draw against Washington Crossfire in their final match of the 2014 Premier Development League (PDL) season Monday night at Liberty High School.

Langsdorf opened the scoring for the Timbers U-23s (5-4-5, 20pts) in the 16th minute. Midfielder Sam Werner found space on the left flank, sending a pass across the front of the goal to Langsdorf, who finished with a one-touch shot to give Portland a 1-0 lead. The assist was Werner’s first of the season.

Pushing numbers forward, Washington Crossfire (3-6-5, 14pts) equalized in the 90th minute as defender Parker Holland scored with a header off a long free kick.

The Timbers U-23s nearly opened the scoring in the fifth minute of the match, but defender Bobby Conner’s header from a corner kick was knocked away by Crossfire goalkeeper Mike Arguello.

Portland controlled the majority of possession and came close to doubling its lead in the 71st minute when Langsdorf found midfielder Lucas Stauffer with a diagonal ball across field, but Stauffer’s shot hit the crossbar.

Holding a 10-9 advantage in shots, the Timbers U-23s earned six corner kicks to Washington’s four in the match. Portland goalkeeper Justin Luthy tallied five saves.

The Timbers U-23s finished the 2014 campaign unbeaten in their last seven matches (4-0-3) and currently sit in fourth place in the Northwest Division standings.
