Wall Street Journal on how college football is looking to MLS to help with attendance | The Backcut

In recent years, MLS attendance has grown to a level that the average number beats out the NHL and NBA. Crowds routinely pack Providence Park to create one of the best and most unique sporting environments in the country. 


As Timbers president of business operations Mike Golub told the Wall Street Journal recently, "The word is out that it's a special game experience."


College football, while having similary huge numbers of dedidicated fans, has seen attendance lag in recent seasons. In that same Wall Street Journal article, some college football programs have begun to eye MLS and their ways of attracting and maintaining fans. Both the Timbers and Sporting Kansas City are presented as shining examples.
