Thorns FC's Alex Morgan, Christine Sinclair and Jodie Taylor tally goals on Day 2 of Algarve and Cyprus Cup

Jodie Taylor vs. Australia - Cyprus Cup 3.6.15

It was a big day for Thorns FC players at the Algarve and Cyprus Cup today. Three different players scored goals in helping their teams grab wins in the second round of group games as the United States, Canada and England all earned wins in their respective competitions and sit atop their groups with one game to go.

Making just her fifth international appearance, Thorns FC forward Jodie Taylor not only scored her first international goal, but a second and a third and turned it into a hat trick in England’s 3-0 win over Australia and Thorns FC defender Steph Catley; Catley featured in the match as well and she played all 90 minutes.

Forward Alex Morgan scored a second goal in her last three matches as she volleyed home a cross in the 54th minute for the USWNT in a 3-0 win against Switzerland, while midfielder Tobin Heath appeared as a second-half sub.

Not to be outdone, Christine Sinclair and Canada continued their impressive run of form with a 1-0 win over Korea DPR at the Cyprus Cup. Sinclair scored in her fourth consecutive match, finding the back of the net early in the second half and defender Rhian Wilkinson once again featured, logging 90 minutes in the win. And in case you missed it, here’s Sinclair’s goal and her assist from Monday’s match against Scotland.
