Quick Strikes, Timbers vs. FCD, 4.4.15

The Portland Timbers return home this week to take on FC Dallas on Saturday at Providence Park (ROOT SPORTS, 7:30 p.m. PT). Having lost last week, the Timbers come into Saturday's game looking to gain three points. Here are five numbers to know for #PORvDAL in the newest Quick Strikes by Simple.

2.14 Since the 2013 season, Portland averages 2.14 goals per game in the matches immediately following a loss, with a record of 7-2-5. Also since 2013, the Timbers have lost consecutive regular season matches on only two occasions.

5No Timbers player has had more success against FC Dallas than Darlington Nagbe. The dynamic spark has scored five MLS goals agianst the Texas club, by far the most against any opponent in Nagbe's five seasons as a pro. Nagbe's success extends beyond league play as he has also tallied a goal in the U.S. Open Cup against Dallas.

65Only Orlando City has suffered more fouls more than the Portland Timbers this season with the team having suffered 65 fouls in the first four matches of the year. Nagbe leads the way in having been fouled 12 times while Fanendo Adi is next having been fouled 11 times.

7 The Timbers haven't lost in the seven home matches they have played as a MLS club on days that coincide with a full moon. Based on the team's overall home record since 2011, the likelihood of such a streak are 23.7 percent while the odds of any random MLS team having a seven-game home unbeaten streak over that time is 15.1 percent. The club is 4-0-3 in those matches with the most recent being a 3-0 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes on Oct. 8 last season.

9 Extending back to pre-MLS days, Portland hasn't lost in nine straight full-moon games at home, with a record of 6-0-3. In those matches, the Timbers have outscored opponents by a 16-6 margin. The streak began on June 30, 2007, when Lawrence Olum scored the stoppage-time winner in a 1-0 victory over Miami FC of USL.
