MLS Team of the Week Graphic Week 24

Major League Soccer's 24th week was high on both spectacle and drama, which makes it only appropriate the the five goals nominated for AT&T Goal of the Week are a combination of the dramatic and the spectacular.

Portland Timbers defender Nat Borchers provided some late-game drama, heading in a game-winning goal in the last minute of stoppage time, this from a corner kick against his former club Real Salt Lake on the road.

Elsewhere around MLS, Sporting Kansas City midfielder Paulo Nagamura scored in the 87th and 94th minutes to lift KC to a wild 4-3 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps, and his winning goal – a flicked header from a Soni Mustivar cross – earned a nomination.

Last week's drama actually begin Thursday night, with New York City FC's David Villa lashing an unstoppable low shot from the top of the penalty area in the 80th minute, while fighting off two defenders, to put NYCFC ahead in a 3-1 win.

As for the spectacular (with slightly less drama), Cascadia stars Obafemi Martins (Seattle Sounders) and Pedro Morales (Vancouver Whitecaps) took care of that. Martins used intricate footwork to slot in the opening goal against Orlando City on Sunday, while Morales curled in a wicked 30-yard free kick against Kansas City.
