Though the Portland Timbers dominated throughout, they fell just short in a 2-1 loss to the Seattle Sounders Sunday at CenturyLink Field. Here are three #StatMan takeaways from the match.
12 Jack Jewsbury became the 12th Timbers player to score a goal in an MLS regular season match against the Sounders. The MLS veteran now has a goal and two assists against Seattle for Portland in league games.
20 Portland fired 20 shots during the match, the fourth time this season the club had 20 or more shots in a match. It was the second time in 2015 that the Timbers have reached the 20-shot plateau against the Sounders. It was also the most shots allowed at CenturyLink Field ever in Seattle's MLS history.
6 According to Opta, midfield maestro Diego Valeri created six chances in the match, which is tied for the most by a Timbers player in a match this season. Valeri also notched an assist for the third straight match with his sixth assist of 2015, which is good for the club lead.
