#StatMan Three | Timbers 5/40 All Eras Alumni Edition | Sept. 20, 2015

Timbers Alumni, Timbers vs. NY, 9.20.15

As part of the season-long #Timbers540 celebration, the club was joined by alumni from all three NASL, USL and MLS for the Sept. 20 match against the New York Red Bulls. Names like John Bain, Peter Withe, Tom Poltl, Scot Thompson and many more all were in attendance. Here is a special #StatMan Three of the combined numbers of the gathered group of alumni. 


1,875 The 36 former players who were recognized at halftime of the match, played in 1,875 league matches for the Timbers during the club's three professional eras. (1975-1982, 2001-2010, 2011-present). One of players on the field was Willie Anderson, who is Portland's all-time games played leader with 160.


245All in, the group contributed 240 assists. Including Diego Valeri, who started the match against the Red Bulls, each of the club's top four leaders in career assists were present Sunday. Valeri is fourth on the list behind Bain (55), Anderson (53), and Hugo Alcarez-Cueller (44).  



180Combined, the total number of goals scored by the gathered alumni totaled 180. Portland's two leading career goalscorers were both present Sunday with John Bain (45) and Byron Alvarez (42) amassing a combined 87 goals for the Timbers. Bain and Alvarez are the only two Timbers to surpass 40 career goals for the club.
