Thorns FC loan goalkeeper Michelle Betos to Australian club Sydney FC

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC today announced that the club has loaned goalkeeper Michelle Betos to Sydney FC of the Australian W-League.

Betos, 27, was named 2015 NWSL Goalkeeper of the Year following her second season with Thorns FC. A 2015 NWSL Best XI selection, Betos started 14 matches for Portland during the 2015 campaign, registering a career-best 45 saves, while logging the third-most minutes (1,260) among goalkeepers in the league. The NWSL Player of the Week for Week 10, Betos became the first goalkeeper in league history to score, tallying the equalizer in a 1-1 draw with FC Kansas City on June 19 at Providence Park.

Betos will return to Portland before the start of the 2016 NWSL season.
