For fans of the Trail Blazers and Timbers, there is now one scarf to show off your allegiances and it's arriving just in time.
As one team opens its season, the other pushes for playoff glory and its league's ultimate prize.
On Wednesday, the Portland Trail Blazers will begin their 2015-2016 NBA season. The very next day, the Portland Timbers will play host to Sporting Kansas City in the first round of the Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs.
At 11:00 am PT on Wednesday, fans of both teams will have the chance to purchase this special, limited-edition co-branded Timbers/Blazers scarf at the adidas Timbers Team Store and the Trail Blazers Fan Shop (located at the Moda Center).
The scarf itself is a beauty, boldly displaying our city's name on either side. The city name is in the distinctive style and font of each team and surrounded by that team's colors. On one end of the scarf is the Blazers' mark and on the other the Timbers'.
All of these little details were by design.
“We wanted it to be more about the city,” said Timbers lead designer Alex Kocher, pointing out the use of each team's distinctive Portland wordmark. “It's geared towards Portland pride more than anything.”
But the scarf's rich, deep colors and recurring five-dot pattern give it a sharp look that will fit in just as well out on the town as it will inside the stadium.
“We wanted it to be more of a lifestyle scarf than just a game day scarf,” said Kocher.
The scarves retail for $28 with a portion of the proceeds going to the Positive Coaching Alliance, a community partner of both the Timbers and the Blazers.
"We are thrilled to launch this co-branded scarf with the Timbers and we hope Portland sports fans love it,” said Christa Stout, Blazers VP of Social Responsibility. “We are even more excited about our combined efforts to help raise awareness and funds to support the Positive Coaching Alliance and their work to ensure positive sports experiences for local youth athletes."
So if you want to rep your city and your team this winter and help a good cause, head down to the adidas Timbers Team Store (Tues.-Sat. 11 a.m-6 p.m and on game days) or the Trail Blazers Fan Shop (Mon.-Fri. 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and on game nights) and purchase your scarf while supplies last.
Hurry though, because this scarf won't be available anywhere else.
