Sunday’s match marks the second of three regular-season meetings between the Timbers and Sounders, with the two teams set to face each other again at Providence Park on Sunday, Aug. 28. Playing the first game of a two-match road swing, the Portland Timbers were unable to overcome two first-half goals, falling 2-0 to D.C. United before 16,298 fans at RFK Stadium on Aug. 13. Forward Jordan Morris, who last scored in a 2-1 win over Real Salt Lake on Aug. 14, leads the team in goals scored (8), while midfielder Andreas Ivanschitz ranks first on the team with six assists. In 22 regular-season games played in 2016, goalkeeper Stefan Frei has recorded five shutouts, 58 saves on 89 shots faced and a 1.27 goals-against average.
