T2 travel to face Swope Park Rangers Wednesday, Seattle Sounders FC 2 Sunday

PORTLAND, Ore. – Playing the first of two road matches in five days, T2 will travel to play Swope Park Rangers at Children’s Mercy Victory Field on Wednesday, March 29, before traveling to Starfire Stadium to face Seattle Sounders FC 2 on Sunday, April 2. Set to begin at 5:30 p.m. (Pacific), Wednesday’s match will be available via a live, high-definition web stream at www.timbers2.com.

The match on Wednesday mark’s T2’s first road match of the 2017 season, and the first of two scheduled matches against Swope Park this season, as both teams will meet again at Providence Park on Sunday, July 16. During the 2016 USL campaign, the teams split the regular-season series, with T2 and Swope Park winning their respective home games.

T2 (0-1-0, 0pts) enter Wednesday’s road match after sustaining a 2-1 loss to Real Monarchs SLC in their opening game of the 2017 USL campaign. After falling behind 2-0 at the start of the second half, T2 scored their first goal of the season when forward Augustine Williams pounced on a poor pass from the goalkeeper and slotted his right-footed finish from outside the box.

Swope Park, the USL affiliate of Sporting Kansas City, enters its second game of the season after defeating OKC Energy FC 3-1 in its home opener on March 25. Three different players scored in the win, as Kharlton Belmar, Latif Blessing and Daniel Salloi each found the back of the net. In their inaugural campaign in USL last season, the Rangers reached the 2016 USL Cup, losing 5-1 to New York Red Bulls II in the final.

Following Wednesday’s match, T2 will travel to face Cascadia-rival Seattle Sounders FC 2 at Starfire Stadium on Sunday; kickoff is set for 2 p.m. (Pacific).

Seattle Sounders FC 2 (0-1-0, 0pts) enter Sunday’s match following a 2-1 loss at home to Sacramento Republic FC on March 26 at Starfire Stadium, with defender Brian Nana-Sinkam scoring Seattle’s lone goal in the match. Last season, Sounders FC 2 finished in 12th place in the Western Conference, five points outside the final playoff slot.
