International Notebook | Canada, United States, and France all win international friendlies

Allie Long, U.S. vs. Russia, 4.6.17

Thorns FC's Allie Long had herself a night against Russia in Frisco, Texas. The veteran midfielder put away two headed goals to help the U.S. power past Russia 4-0 in an international friendly on Thursday night.

Those goals now bring Long's career goal tally to five with the U.S. Women's National Team, all of them scored with her head.

Meanwhile, Thorns FC defender Meghan Klingenberg also got back onto the field, starting and playing 45 minutes before coming off at half-time. That marked the first time that Klingenberg had suited up for the U.S. Women since playing against the Netherlands back in September of last year.

Earlier that morning, Canada defeated Sweden 1-0 behind a Janine Beckie goal, assisted by none other than Thorns FC and Canada Soccer legend Christine Sinclair.

Sinclair took a pass to her right foot, expertly played it to her left, and then volleyed a pinpoint pass to Beckie in the box, which the Houston Dash forward effortlessly finished past the Swedish goalkeeper. Just take a look:

On Friday, Amandine Henry started and played the full 90 minutes in Utrecht as France defeated the Netherlands 2-1 behind an Anouk Dekker own goal and a Eugénie Le Sommer lob.
