Thorns FC sign defender Meghan Cox

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC have signed defender Meghan Cox, it was announced today. 


“I am excited to give Meghan this opportunity after a very strong preseason,” said head coach Mark Parsons. “She brings a great range of passing and will provide depth along the backline.”


Cox, 22, played for three seasons at the University of Virginia (2014-16), after transferring from James Madison, where she featured in 21 games as a freshman in 2013. In three seasons with the Cavaliers, Cox appeared in 67 total matches (50 starts), tallying 11 goals and 10 assists.


Thorns FC open the 2017 season against the Orlando Pride on Saturday at Providence Park; kickoff is scheduled for 12 noon (Pacific) on Lifetime.
