2017 Stand Together Week Day 5 | Planting, book binding, crafts and more

On Day 5 of Stand Together Week, Portland Timbers, Thorns FC, and T2 players will team up to help out at seven events for the second day in a row. They'll meet up with volunteers from Washougal to Portland to Hillsboro to give back to the community.

Book restoration at The Children’s Book Bank will continue on Thursday thanks to help from the Timbers’ Jeremy Ebobisse, Thorns’ Meghan Cox, and T2’s Neco Brett, Shaquille Jimenez, and Augustine Williams. Simultaneously, Timbers defender Liam Ridgewell will meet up with adidas volunteers to coach youth soccer drills, games, and scrimmages for Active Children Portland. Portland-native and Thorns defender Kendall Johnson plans to work alongside volunteers from Providence Health and Services to help Columbia Gorge Refuge Stewards remove non-native plants along hiking trails. Along with Alaska Air and Providence Health and Services volunteers, Timbers forward Darren Mattocks will help freshen up Zenger Farm for their summer season, whilst Diego Valeri, Thorns FC’s head coach Mark Parsons, Katherine Reynolds and T2’s Villyan Bijev and Dylan Damraoui work at the Hillsboro Public Library, running craft stations and games alongside Daimler volunteers. T2 midfielders Blake Bodily and Tomás Granitto will lend a hand with Enterprise Holdings and KPTV repainting blacktop lines at McKay Elementary School. After refurbishing a playground, volunteers will round out the day with a Family Recess Night at Cherry Park Elementary. Playworks will be assisted by Timbers’ Head Coach Caleb Porter and his family, defender Zarek Valentin, Thorns’ goalkeeper Adrianna Franch and T2’s Max Ornstil and Russell Cicerone, as they host playground games and activities with children.
