Quick Strikes | Timbers look to repeat previous match against Minnesota

Diego Valeri #3, Timbers vs. Loons, 3.3.17

For the first time in 2017, the Portland Timbers will play a Wednesday match as they take on Minnesota United FC (5pm PT, KPDX). Here are five numbers to know for #MINvPOR in the latest edition of Quick Strikes.

5 The last time these two teams met, in the season opener on March 3, Portland scored five goals with Diego Valeri and Fanendo Adi both notching braces. It was the third time the Timbers had scored five goals in an MLS match.

48 Valeri is now up to 48 assists in his MLS career since debuting for Portland in the 2013 season. The Argentine midfielder has the most assists in the league since his debut, seven more than any other MLS player.

34 After a four-shot, one-goal performance against Colorado, Sebastian Blanco now has 34 shots this season. The Timbers are the only MLS team with three players with 34 or more shots (Adi, Valeri, and Blanco).

102 TCF Bank Stadium is the 102nd different stadium where the Timbers have played a road match in league play across all eras (since 1975). It is the fourth different stadium in Minnesota the club has played in, joining the National Sports Center, Metropolitan Stadium and the MetroDome.

13Timbers are unbeaten in their last 13 games in Minnesota (across all eras dating back to 1975) with a 5-0-8 record in that span. The Timbers have also only lost three times in their last 19 games in Minnesota, with all three of those losses coming in extra time.
