PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC have signed forward Tyler Lussi, it was announced today.

“We are excited to add Tyler to the roster after her performance in training the last two weeks,” said Thorns FC head coach Mark Parsons. “She is an attacking player that can play in any of the front three positions and brings a tireless work ethic every time she touches the field.”

Thorns FC selected Lussi out of Princeton University in the third round of the 2017 NWSL College Draft with the 21st overall pick. A four-year starter for the Tigers, Lussi finished her career as the school’s all-time leader in goals scored (53) and points (122), while adding 16 assists in 68 career matches.

During her career at Princeton, Lussi helped guide the Tigers to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and an Ivy League Championship in 2015, earning NSCAA second-team All-America honors, while also being named a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy. A three-time All-Ivy League first-team selection, Lussi was named Ivy League Player of the Year in 2014 and 2015 and concluded her collegiate career in 2016, receiving third-team All-America accolades.

At the youth international level, Lussi spent time in training camp with the U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team in January. In March, Lussi traveled to Spain with the U-23s, appearing in all three matches. Lussi started in the final match of the tournament, tallying the game-winning assist in a 1-0 win against Norway on March 6.
