PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC have signed forward Savannah Jordan, it was announced today.
“Savannah is a very hard-working forward with the ability to create and score goals in many ways,” said Thorns FC head coach Mark Parsons. “We are excited to bring her to Portland and look forward to seeing Savannah's development and impact in the Rose City.”
Portland’s second-round selection (18th overall pick) in the 2017 NWSL College Draft out of the University of Florida, Jordan, 22, was a four-time NSCAA All-America selection, earning first-team accolades in 2015 and second-team honors in 2013, 2014 and 2016. In four seasons with the Gators, Jordan tallied 81 goals and 27 assists in 94 matches (93 starts), closing out her career ranked second in program history in goals and points (189) behind only Abby Wambach.
A four-time All-South Eastern Conference first-team pick, Jordan helped guide Florida to the NCAA Tournament in each of her four seasons. Jordan was twice named SEC Offensive Player of the Year (2013, 2015), tallying more than 20 goals in each of those seasons. In her final season in 2016, Jordan finished with 16 goals and nine assists in 23 matches, earning NSCAA first-team All-South Region recognition.
As a youth international, Jordan appeared with the U.S. U-23 and U-20 Women’s National Team. In 2016, Jordan played every match for the U.S. U-23 WNT at the Nordic Tournament, scoring three goals in three matches. In 2014, Jordan played in three matches, including the quarterfinal, for the United States at the FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup. In CONCACAF qualifying, Jordan scored five goals in five matches and was named to the CONCACAF U-20 Best XI. In addition, Jordan spent time in camp with the United States at the U-18, U-17 and U-14 level.
