Quick Strikes | Timbers strive to continue Rio Tinto success

Diego Valeri, Timbers vs. RSL, 7.19.17

The Portland Timbers look to extend a four-game unbeaten streak when they head to Utah to take on Real Salt Lake Saturday at Rio Tinto Stadium (6:30pm PT, KPDX). Here are five numbers to know for #RSLvPOR in the latest Quick Strikes.

17 Scoring in seven consecutive matches, Diego Valeri has shot up the MLS goalscoring charts. His 17 goals leave him one goal shy of the record for most goals by a midfielder in MLS history, set by Lee Nguyen's 18 in 2014.

3 Portland has had success through the years at Rio Tinto Stadium with three wins and two draws. The three wins and 11 points at RSL trail only Vancouver's BC Place for most successful away venues for the Timbers.

16 The Timbers have scored in 16 straight matches, the club's longest streak since the club started last season with 17 consecutive games with a goal. The 16-game streak is also three games longer than any other current streak in MLS.

4/8 Defender Larrys Mabiala has made eight starts for Portland since making his debut in July. Portland has won four of Mabiala's starts with two draws, good for a points per game average of 1.75 in games played in by the Congolese center back.

89 Following their 1-0 victory at Yankee Stadium last weekend, the Timbers have amassed 89 points from road matches since the start of the 2013 season. That total ranks second in MLS for the five-year span, just five points behind Sporting Kansas City.
