PORTLAND, Ore. – One of the original Thorns FC players, midfielder Allie Long made club and NWSL history during the team’s 3-1 victory at Providence Park on Saturday. Long became the first player in Thorns history to play in 100 games for the club.

“It’s really surreal and such a blessing at the same time,” said Long. “I feel such a sense of pride to be able to have 100 games for the same club. That just goes to show my passion for this club, the city and the game of football.”

Long, who entered Saturday’s regular-season finale at halftime, is just the third player in NWSL history to achieve the 100 games-played milestone all with one club.

She also joins a short list of only eight players in league history to reach the century mark – with all eight accomplishing the feat in 2017 – as the NWSL closes in on its fifth season of play.
