With Saturday’s 2017 NWSL Playoff Semifinal between Thorns FC and the Orlando Pride, presented by Tillamook Yogurt (12:30pm PT, Lifetime, TICKETS), we take a look back at some of the notable numbers and stats from the regular-season that helped get Portland to this point.


6 Defender Meghan Klingenberg tied for second in the league in assists (six). The six assists also were an NWSL career high for the U.S. international.  


6 Having entered the year without a goal in her first two NWSL seasons, Hayley Raso finished tied for second on Thorns FC with six goals in 2017, all of which came in the club's last 14 matches. 


7 This season, Portland tied for the NWSL lead with seven headed goals. The goals came from five different players (Lindsey Horan, Amandine Henry, Raso, Allie Longand Emily Sonnett). 


8 At home, Portland allowed just eight goals in 2017, fewest in the league.


8 Forward Christine Sinclair led Portland with eight goals in 2017. The eight tied her NWSL career high first set in 2013.


9 The 2017 season saw international call-ups for nine different players (Dagny Brynjarsdottir, Tobin Heath, Henry, Horan, Klingenberg, Long, Nadia Nadim, Raso and Sinclair) representing six different countries (Australia, Canada, Denmark, Iceland and the United States). 


10 Thorns had 10 different goal-scorers in 2017 (Sinclair, Nadim, Raso, Horan, Sonnett, Henry, Long, Tyler Lussi, Mallory Weber and Ashleigh Sykes). 


11 Goalkeeper Adrianna Franch set a new NWSL record in shutouts as she helped lead a defense to 11 clean sheets in the regular-season. 


17 Thorns FC finished the 2017 seasonwith a goal differential of +17, which was the best in the league and the best ever for the club. It is also the third-highest goal difference ever for any team in an NWSL season. 


24 Thorns FC players Horan, Franch, Sinclair and Sonnett appeared in all 24 matches in 2017. 


100 In the final game of the regular-season, midfielder Allie Long became the first ever player to make 100 appearances in a Thorns uniform. 


1,802 No NWSL player was on the ball more than Lindsay Horan this season. Horan had 1,802 distinct touches of the ball in 2017, more than 100 more than any other NWSL player. 


2,160 Emily Sonnett played in every minute of every game in 2017. She also had a career high with three goals and one assist. 


17,653 Portland averaged more than 17-and-half-thousand fans per match in 2017. The Thorns are the first professional women's club team (in any sport) based in the United States to average more than 17,000 fans for an entire season.
