WHAT: In honor of Portland Thorns FC’s second NWSL Championship in five seasons, Portland International Airport will host a Thorns FC Welcome-Home Celebration for fans and media upon the team’s triumphant return to Portland.
With Sunday being the only day for the team to celebrate the championship before players report for national team and offseason duty, Thorns FC also will be recognized at halftime during the Portland Timbers home match against D.C. United on Sunday, followed by an NWSL Championship Rally at Providence Park, which is scheduled to begin at approximately 7:45 p.m. (Pacific) Sunday evening.
Thorns FC defeated the North Carolina Courage 1-0 behind 2017 NWSL Championship MVP Lindsay Horan’s game-winning goal in the 50th minute on Saturday at Orlando City Stadium in Orlando, Fla., to secure the 2017 NWSL Championship.
Thorns FC Welcome-Home Celebration

ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Fans are encouraged to assemble curbside on the upper (departures) roadway starting at 12 noon (Pacific) for the airport Welcome-Home Celebration. The team will arrive to greet fans at approximately 12:45 p.m. (Pacific).
Thorns FC NWSL Championship Rally
WHEN: Sunday, Oct. 15, beginning approximately at 7:45 p.m. (Pacific)
WHERE: Providence Park, 1844 SW Morrison St., Portland, OR 97205
ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Thorns FC will host an NWSL Championship Rally for fans at Providence Park following the Timbers game against D.C. United. The event is free and open to the public, beginning at approximately 7:45 p.m. (Pacific).
The NWSL Championship Rally will feature remarks by Thorns FC players, staff and team officials. The rally will be streamed live at www.thornsfc.com.

Fans attending Sunday’s Timbers match will be required to exit the stadium at the conclusion of the match. Gates 2 and 4 will open at approximately 7:15 p.m. (Pacific) for the NWSL Championship Rally.
In addition to complimentary coffee and hot chocolate, discounted food and beverages will be available for purchase at the NWSL Championship Rally. Fans also will have the opportunity to purchase NWSL championship merchandise, with championship scarves available via pre-order.
