Thorns FC announce partnership with performance training specialist GC Strength

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC today announced a partnership with GC Strength to become the club’s official performance training provider.

As part of the agreement, GC Strength has assigned Garga Caserta to serve as the Thorns FC performance manager for the 2017 and 2018 NWSL seasons.

“We are excited to partner with GC Strength, a growing, local company that is invested in managing and working with the aspect of physical preparation for elite soccer athletes," said Thorns FC general manager and president of soccer Gavin Wilkinson. “Thorns FC are always looking for ways to enhance the team and this partnership helps us address a critical area as we strive to help our athletes perform at the highest level on the field.”

Founded in 2015 – GC Strength has been impacting youth and elite level athletes by sharing the values and principles of a high performance mindset through coaching education, while offering performance training, nutrition and massage therapy services, all aligned towards developing athletes on and off the field. The companies approach is comprised of integrated methods of training within strength, speed, nutrition and mindset work as it relates to soccer – with the aim of creating more complete soccer players, stronger athletes and higher performing people. Its unique approach focuses on athletic and mindset skills and their impact on specific technical skills within the sport. Over its short history, the GC Strength team has supported World Cup champions, Olympic athletes and professionals in a variety of sports including jiu-jitsu, MMA, among a variety of other sports at the youth levels.
