Timbers Academy goalkeeper Kashope Oladapo has been called up by the U.S. U-17 National Team for the annual Nike International Friendlies. The tournament will mark the team’s first matches since competing in the FIFA U-17 World Cup in October.
The U.S. U-17s will face England (Nov. 29), Netherlands (Dec. 1) and Brazil (Dec. 3) during the International Friendlies from Nov. 29 to Dec. 3 in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
Oladapo is one of four goalkeepers that make up U.S. U-17 National Team head coach John Hackworth’s 24-player roster for the tournament.
“To begin the new U-17 cycle with the Nike International Friendlies competing against traditional world powers is a big challenge,” Hackworth said. “However, our staff has evaluated these young men, most recently at the CONCACAF U-15 Championship, and we are all looking forward to the chance to work with this talented group.”
Oladapo, from Happy Valley, Ore., has started all nine of his appearances for the Timbers U-17 Academy during the 2017-18 U.S. Soccer Development Academy season. He has a 5-3-1 record and has contributed to the team’s current run of six wins in its last eight games.
While this is Oladapo’s first call-up to the U.S. U-17s, he has been a member of the national team pool at the U-15 level from 2015-17.
