PORTLAND, Ore. â€“ With the help of local community partners and the City of Portland, the Portland Timbers, Portland Thorns FC and T2 will present their seventh-annual Stand Together Week from June 9-15. The comprehensive, week-long community initiative supports dozens of nonprofit projects and volunteer opportunities across the city, with the club extending the reach of the program this year through the efforts of a number of the club’s regional supporters groups.

On Wednesday, June 6, the City of Portland officially will proclaim June 9-15 as Stand Together Week, while the state of Oregon also will issue an official proclamation on a date to be determined.

Stand Together Week, with the help of Hands On Greater Portland, will consist of 33 volunteer projects and more than 1,000 volunteers, benefitting more than 30 organizations focused on youth and the environment across the Portland metro area. Fans are invited to volunteer and team up with mascot Timber Joey, Timbers, Thorns FC and T2 players and club staff on the various projects.

Supported by presenting partners adidas, Alaska Airlines, Allstate, Coca-Cola, Daimler Trucks North America, Danner, FOX 12 Oregon, Hampton Lumber, New Relic, Providence Sports Medicine and Sightbox, Stand Together Week kicks off Saturday, June 9, helping Ecology in Classrooms and Outdoors with restoration projects on Powell Butte Nature Park with trail work, ivy and other invasive species removal and fence work among the improvements.

Each project will engage fans and community members and have a meaningful impact on the community. The volunteer opportunities affiliated with Stand Together Week, named after the Timbers’ community outreach platform, range from outdoor park/garden maintenance to construction projects and assisting in special youth and community initiatives. A complete schedule of activities and events is listed below.

As the reach of Stand Together Week continues to grow in its seventh year, the club is expanding the program this season by working with a number of regional supporters groups on related philanthropic projects, as each group strives to better its individual community.

As part of this extended outreach, the Montana Volunteers will assist the Helena Food Share to set up and prepare for its Summer Lot Party on Friday, June 8. The group will also conduct food drives and fundraisers for food banks in Montana during their watch parties throughout each season. On the following day, the Hudson Valley Dutch Infantry will help to maintain trails at Locust Grove at the Samuel Morse Estate in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on Saturday, June 9. Later that week, the annual Food War Competition between the Timbers Army Eastern Bloc and the Timbers Army: Covert Ops will begin, with the Timbers Army: Covert Ops working to sell products and stock the shelves at the Ballard Food Bank in Seattle on Monday, June 11, and Thursday, June 14. The Timbers Army Eastern Bloc team will help repackage food into family-size portions at the Oregon Food Bank in Northeast Portland on Tuesday, June 12.

Since the inception in 2012, Stand Together Week participants have donated 15,371 hours of service at more than 193 events benefitting youth and the environment in the greater-Portland area. Nonprofits served include Playworks, Zenger Farm, Boys & Girls Club, Active Children Portland, Children’s Book Bank and the 4 Worlds United Soccer Alliance, among many others.
