Adrianna Franch nominated for "Best NWSL Player" at ESPY Awards

Portland Thorns FC goalkeeper Adrianna Franch is a finalist for the first-ever “Best NWSL Player” honors at the 2018 ESPYS.


Franch is among four nominees, which also include Chicago Red Stars’ Sam Kerr, Seattle Reign FC’s Megan Rapinoe and North Carolina Courage’s Sam Mewis.


Franch took home NWSL Goalkeeper of the Year honors last season with an NWSL single-season record 11 shutouts and helping anchor a Portland defense which posted a 0.83 goals-against average at home in 2017. She named an NWSL Best XI selection after helping the club win the 2017 NWSL title. Additionally, Franch earned 2017 Concacaf Female Goalkeeper of the Year honors.


Also among the 2018 ESPY nominations was Portland Timbers midfielder Diego Valeri for “Best MLS Player.”


The 2018 ESPYS take place Wednesday, July 18, and will air live from the the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles on ABC.
