Quick Strikes | Reigning MVP Diego Valeri continues to add to his statistical achievements

Diego Valeri, Timbers vs. LA, 6.2.18

After a mini two-game, cross country road trip, the Portland Timbers return home to face the San Jose Earthquakes Saturday night at Providence Park (8pm PT, ROOT SPORTS). Here are five numbers to know for #PORvSJE in the latest Quick Strikes.

4 Reigning MLS MVP Diego Valeri has a league-high four assists direct from set pieces this season. The four dead-ball assists are the most Valeri has ever had in a single season and ties David Guzmán (four in 2017) for most set-piece assists in a single season by a Timbers player.

7 Portland has beaten San Jose at Providence Park in MLS play seven times, which ties for the most home wins by the Timbers against a single MLS opponent with the Colorado Rapids. In its 10 MLS matches at Providence Park against the Quakes, Portland is undefeated with three draws along with the seven wins.

9 The Timbers have become an aerial threat this season with nine goals from headers, which is tied for the most in MLS. Leading the way is Larrys Mabiala, whose four headed goals trail only Bradley Wright-Phillips for most goals from headers in 2018.

12 Portland's 12-match unbeaten streak across all competitions is the longest by the club since 2013 and is tied for the third-longest unbeaten run in the club's 44-year history. The streak is also the longest by an MLS team this season.

99 Defender Alvas Powell started his 99th regular season match for the Timbers in the club's 3-2 victory over Seattle. With his next start, the 23-year-old Jamaican will become the sixth Timbers player to start 100 MLS matches for the club.
