Key plays
Starting the match on the front foot, Foster Langsdorf dribbled down the right side of the field and delivered a cross into the center of the box. Las Vegas attempted to clear the ball, but it deflected off a defender and landed for Barmby, who fired a shot from close range and forced a save resulting in a T2 corner kick in the ninth minute.

Less than two minutes later, Renzo Zambrano slipped a pass to Eryk Williamson, who found a pocket of space in behind Lights FC’s backline as he ran down the right side of the box. Williamson cut back toward the center of goal and sent a low, hard shot toward the left corner, but Las Vegas goalkeeper Ricardo Ferriño dove to his right to make fingertip save.

Looking to open the scoring early in the second half, Langsdorf helped lead the attack for T2 as he dribbled down the right flank. Surging down field and into the box, Langsdorf chipped the ball across the face of the goal for Williamson making a late run into the box, but he sent his shot wide of the target in the 48th minute.

T2 goalkeeper Kendall McIntosh came up with a critical stop to prevent Lights FC from tallying their second goal of the match with a point-blank save in the in 56th minute. Off a free kick from the right wing, Las Vegas worked the ball over to the left side and played a cross into the center of the box. Joseph Perez sent a diving header towards goal from inside 10 yards, but McIntosh reacted quickly to make the stop at full stretch.

Barmby leveled the match for T2 in the 63rd minute. Langsdorf dribbled down the left side of the field and played the ball into the box for Barmby making a run towards the near post. Barmby hit a one-time shot in stride past the outstretched arms of Ferriño for the finish and his second goal of the season.

Barmby nearly gave T2 the lead in the 71st minute as he beat his defender near the edge of the box on the right side, sending a shot towards the top left corner of the goal, but Ferrino jumped to his right and tipped the ball over the crossbar to deny Barmby.

Las Vegas reclaimed the lead in the 74th minute on a free kick just outside the box. Omar Salgado hit a powerful strike through the wall and into the right side of the net to put Lights FC in front 2-1.

Searching for the game-tying goal, Barmby played a quick pass to Zambrano at the edge of the box in the 84th minute. Zambrano curled his shot towards the right corner of the goal, but it went just wide of the right post.

Jeremy Ebobisse sent a header just over the crossbar in second-half stoppage time, directing a cross played into the box from the right wing.

T2 Quotes

T2 head coach Cameron Knowles

General thoughts on the match…
"It's obviously disappointing that we didn't get any points out of the game. I felt that in large stretches of the game we played really well. We created some really good chances, but we were just missing that final piece. Credit to Las Vegas, they took the chances they had. It's difficult to drop points at home."

On how the heat played a part in the match...
"It's the same for both teams. We may have had to play a little bit deeper and pick and choose our moments to initiate pressure, but I thought the guys played really well; we just missed that final piece."

On the team's second-half performance...
"It's the nature of the game – we were chasing it a little bit. We were getting a lot of the ball and a lot of chances, but we really needed one of those chances to fall for us [early] to unlock things."

On Jack Barmby's performance...
"He was good. I think that the work from Foster [Langsdorf] to create [the goal] was very good. There are a few guys that performed really well but it was a good finish and we needed it to go in. He's been working hard the last couple of weeks so credit to him."

On the upcoming match against LA Galaxy II...
"Like every road game now, we've got to make up for home results. We've got to go out and really put our best foot forward and put ourselves in the best position for these road games."
