MATCH RECAP | Portland Timbers 2, Houston Dynamo 1

PORTLAND, Ore. – Playing in his final game for the Portland Timbers, Fanendo Adi came off the bench to score a goal in the 80th minute, lifting the home side to a 2-1 victory over the Houston Dynamo Saturday evening at Providence Park. The win extended Portland's MLS unbeaten streak to 14 games.

Match Moments

7' - GOAL (POR) - The Timbers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a beautiful play early in the first half. Defender Alvas Powell carried the ball down the right flank, performed a couple of step-overs, and then sent in a perfectly pitched ball towards the far post to find an open Sebastián Blanco racing in to hit it on the volley and into the back of the net.

12' - GOAL (HOU) - The Dynamo quickly tied it as Alberth Elis sent a ball across the face of goal to find Romell Quioto on the back post for a tap-in and a 1-1 scoreline.

20' - CHANCE (POR) - Powell squared a ball to Blanco in the middle who chipped it just over the Dynamo backline for a darting Dairon Asprilla. Asprilla hit it on the bounce only for Houston goalkeeper Joe Willis to make a great one-handed save.

22' - CHANCE (POR) - Portland's Diego Valeri lofted in a free kick to the left of the Dynamo goal. A headed ball popped towards the penalty spot for Asprilla to acrobatically bicycle kick the ball but right at Willis. Lawrence Olum headed down the rebound but Willis gathered the ball.

46' - SAVE (POR) - Timbers goalkeeper Jeff Attinella was on his toes right after the half as Houston's Elise slipped in and took a hard-angled shot that the Portland 'keeper parried away.

53' - CHANCE (POR) - Asprilla, taking the ball on a throw in, passed across to Valeri who sent a tantalizing throughball to Blanco but Willis was off his line to scoop it up.

71' - CHANCE (POR) - Following two straight Portland corners, Valeri collected a loose ball on the side and crossed a ball in that Larrys Mabiala headed down but right at Willis.

80' - GOAL (POR) - Coming off the bench, Timbers forward Fanendo Adi put the home side ahead 2-1 as he cleaned up a loose ball after a wild scrum in the six-yard box. It was Adi's 54th career goal for the club. Blanco had performed some deft footwork on the left side, tapped it into the mixer towards Valeri, the Argentine slipped it Adi who then tapped it in.
