KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Portland Timbers lost 3-0 to Sporting Kansas City Saturday night at Children's Mercy Park. Sporting was paced by a first half brace from Diego Rubin and a second half goal from Johnny Russell.

13' - CHANCE (POR) - After weathering some sustained Sporting possession and pressure, Portland came forward with the ball. A cross in from Marco Farfan was dummied by Diego Valeri and left for Samuel Armenteros who struck the left post with his curling shot.

23' - SAVE (POR) - Attinella leaped to his right to parry away a dangerous free kick taken by Sporting's Graham Zusi from just outside the edge of the area.

28' - GOAL (SKC) - KC broke through for a 1-0 lead with a shot from the top of the arc by Diego Rubio that skimmed into the bottom left corner of the goal.


37' - GOAL (SKC) - Sporting doubled their lead as Rubio scored his second goal of the game when he slotted home a pass from Dániel Sallói.


47' - CHANCE (POR) - David Guzmán took a dipping, hard shot from distance that forced KC goalkeeper Tim Melia to push it up and over the bar.

67' - CHANCE (POR) - Valeri, out to the right, lofted a cross into the mixer that Andrés Flores headed back across goal but just wide of the right post.


89' - GOAL (POR) - Sporting scored their final goal in the 89th minute when Johnny Russell slipped through the backline, received the pass from Kristián Németh, and hit it past Attinella to finish the game at 3-0 for the home side.
