PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC midfielders Tobin Heath and Lindsey Horan, goalkeeper Adrianna Franch and defender Emily Sonnett have been named to the 23-player U.S. Women’s National Team roster ahead of a pair of friendlies against Chile on Aug. 31 and Sept. 4. Head coach Jill Ellis and her staff will select 18 players to suit up for each match.
Heath, Horan, Franch and Sonnett will depart and join the USWNT after the club’s Aug. 25 road match against the Washington Spirit. All four players will rejoin the team in Portland ahead of the team’s regular-season finale against Seattle Reign FC on Sept. 7 at Providence Park.
The USWNT plays host to Chile on Aug. 31 at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.; kickoff is set for 8 p.m. (Pacific). The two teams square off for a second time on Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. (Pacific) in San Jose, Calif., at Avaya Stadium. Both matches will be broadcast on ESPN2.
