#StatMan Three | Timbers play in club's third-ever league final

The Portland Timbers fell to Atlanta United FC 2-0 in the 2018 MLS Cup Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Here are three key #StatMan takeaways from the match.

3 Portland has now played in three league finals in the 43-year history of the club. After playing in the 1975 Soccer Bowl in their inaugural season, the team has now advanced to two finals in the last four seasons.

9 The Timbers held Atlanta to nine shots in the match. That was the lowest shot total by a home team in an MLS Cup and ties the lowest shot total by Atlanta United ever at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

43 The match marked the end of the 2018 season for Portland. In all competitions, the club played 43 matches, winning 20 games and advancing to the MLS Cup and the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals.
