Thorns FC announce re-signing of four players ahead of 2019 season

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC announced today that the club has re-signed defenders Emily Menges and Midge Purce and forwards Tyler Lussi and Ifeoma Onumonu for the 2019 season. 


Menges, 26, earned NWSL Second XI recognition in her fifth season with the club in 2018, appearing in 15 matches (15 starts). In five seasons with the club, Menges has appeared in 98 matches (97 starts), logging 8,669 minutes. 


In her first season with Portland, Purce, 23, played in 19 matches (15 starts), logging 1,297 minutes. Purce arrived in Portland ahead of the 2018 season after she was selected in the 2018 NWSL Dispersal Draft.


Lussi, 24, returns to Portland for her third season with the club in 2019. In 2018, Lussi appeared in 15 matches (4 starts), tallying one goal and one assist.


The 2019 season marks Onumonu’s second with Thorns FC. Originally selected by Thorns FC in the 2018 NWSL Dispersal Draft, Onumonu, 25, appeared in eight matches, making three starts in her first season with Portland.
