Edgar "RCTID_Thiago" continues strong play, advances to Knockout Rounds of the 2019 eMLS Cup

Taking place at The Castle as part of 2019 PAX East in Boston, Edgar “RCTID_Thiago” Guerrero continued his strong EA SPORTS FIFA 19 play Friday as he finished the first day of the 2019 eMLS Cup, presented by PlayStation, tournament tied for the best record in the Western Conference on the day (7-3-2 for 23 points) and maintained his third place position in the overall Western Conference standings. The performance earned RCTIDThiago a spot in the Saturday Knockout Round stage which will be streamed live here on Timbers.com and on Twitch.tv/eMLS beginning at 10:30am PT.

Guerrero entered Boston with some buzz having been runner up in the League Series Two event in Dallas to the Philadelphia Union’s Cormac “doolsta” Dooley and was tabbed by some as one of the players to watch at PAX East having been named to MLSsoccer.com's Team of the Year.

Unlike the previous two league series events where play was only in-conference up until the respective series finals, Friday’s play saw RCTIDThiago and his fellow Western Conference players take on their Eastern Conference counterparts. The day was highlighted by a five match win streak where Guerrero defeated Orlando City, Toronto FC (by default due to suspension), the Chicago Fire, D.C. United and the New England Revolution. While he lost back-to-back to New York City FC and Philadelphia, he rebounded with two wins and a draw against Atlanta United FC, Columbus Crew SC and FC Cincinnati to close out the day.

Perhaps the day’s most exciting game was against New England’s John “JKO1707” Oliveira where Portland and Guerrero found themselves down 3-1 at the half. After making some second half adjustments that included bringing on super-sub Zlatan Ibrahimovic, RCTIDThiago fought back for a 4-3 win with Ibrahimovic scoring the game-tying and game-winning goals.

Against Columbus Crew SC and their Nenad “CrewSC Nenad” Stojkovic, Guerrero’s attack was led by Portland’s own Diego Valeri who gave the team a 2-1 lead with the Timbers then running out to a 4-1 win.

Though Guerrero finished the day in third in the West, he does not yet know who his opponent will be on Saturday as eMLS instituted a Last Chance Playoff bracket to determine the sixth playoff spot. All remaining teams from sixth place on will battle it out in a mini tournament to earn the last playoff spot who then will face RCTIDThiago.

UPDATE: RCTIDThiago, finishing third in the Western Conference, begins the Knockout Rounds against San Jose Earthquakes' Alan "CaliSCG" Ortega, the winner of the Last Chance Bracket.

Should Guerrero make it out of the conference Knockout Rounds, he’d advance to the evening event that entails the Conference Semifinals, Conference Finals and two-legged eMLS Cup Grand Final (4pm PT, Timbers.com | Twitch.tv/eMLS).
