SAN JOSE – The Portland Timbers lost 3-0 to the San Jose Earthquakes Saturday evening at Avaya Stadium. Quakes goals came from Shea Salinas, Danny Hoesen and Cristian Espinoza.

15' - GOAL (SJ) - The Earthquakes went up early in the first half as Cristian Espinoza dribbled into the area, sent a low cross to Shea Salinas inside the six-yard box who tapped the ball in for a 1-0 San Jose lead.

24' - SAVE(s) (POR) - Timbers goalkeeper Jeff Attinella made two quick saves to keep his team in it as he first came off his line to deny a close-range shot from Danny Hoesen and then leapt high on the ensuing corner kick to tip over the bar a header from Florian Jungwirth. Attinella set a career high with 10 saves in the match in total.

33' - GOAL (SJ) - San Jose doubled the lead after a scramble in the box. The loose ball came to Hoesen who then roofed it into the net for a 2-0 Earthquakes lead.

34' - GOAL (SJ) - A minute later, Espinoza raced down the right channel and fired a shot past Attinella to make it 3-0 for the home side.

56' - CHANCE (POR) - Following a hand ball in the box by the Earthquakes, Timbers midfielder Diego Valeri's penalty kick was narrowly saved by SJ goalkeeper Daniel Vega.

74 - VAR (SJ) - Earthquakes defender Nick Lima thought he had scored a goal to make it 4-0. However, following a video assisted review, the goal was called back by referee Drew Fischer.
