ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Portland Timbers fell 1-0 to Minnesota United FC following a stoppage-time, penalty kick goal from Ethan Finlay at Allianz Field Sunday afternoon.  



Match Moments

3' - CHANCE (POR) - Timbers forward Brian Fernandez stole the ball away from Minnesota's Michael Boxall on a backpass and headed forward down the middle before sliding a ball to Sebastián Blanco on his left. Blanco took an angled shot that went wide of the right post.

16' - CHANCE (POR) - Blanco, working with Cristhian Paredes in the middle, carried forward and uncorked a swerving shot that Minnesota goalkeeper Vito Mannone tipped over the bar.


29' - CHANCE (POR) - Fernandez, again capitalizing on a turnover, attacked with teammates in numbers. He sprayed a ball out to Jorge Moreira on his right who one-timed a shot that Mannone knocked down but right to Blanco. Blanco's followup point-blank shot was also saved by Mannone out for a Portland corner.

78' - CHANCE (POR) - Blanco sent a perfect ball up to Jeremy Ebobisse who made a diagonal run into the box. Ebobisse, passed it back to Fernandez, who hammered a shot off the right post.

82' - CHANCE (POR) - Jorge Villafaña, working the left side, lofted in a cross that Blanco jumped high and headed on frame but Mannone pushed over the bar.


90+2 - PK GOAL (MIN) - Following a VAR review for a possible handball call in the Portland box, referee Chris Penso pointed to the spot and awarded a penalty for Minnesota. Loons' midfielder Ethan Finlay placed the ball just to the right of a diving Steve Clark to give Minnesota a 1-0 lead.
