PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers peppered the Loons with 29 shots – 12 on goal – but drew 0-0 with Minnesota United FC Sunday afternoon at Providence Park. Goalkeeper Steve Clark made four saves and the Timbers picked up their sixth clean sheet of 2019.

Match Moments

8' - CHANCE (POR) - Timbers attacker Sebastián Blanco, carrying down the left channel, bested a Minnesota defender and tapped a ball to Andy Polo near the middle. Polo turned and shot but Loons goalkeeper Vito Mannone dove to his left to save.

17' - CHANCE (POR) - On a Portland corner kick, Blanco sent an out-swinging ball that found an unmarked Larrys Mabiala jumping high. Mabiala's glancing header went on frame but right at Mannone who made the save.

29' - CHANCE (POR) - Blanco, who worked himself into some space along the edge of the Minnesota 18-yard box, fired a dangerous, dipping shot that Mannone moved to his right to parry away.

36' - CHANCE (POR) - Fed by a perfectly weighted ball from Portland defender Zarek Valentin, forward Brian Fernandez went in on goal but his sharp-angled shot was knocked out for a corner by Mannone.

39' - SAVE (POR) - After a Portland turnover near midfield, Minnesota's Kevin Molino stole the ball and fed it forward to a sprinting Darwin Quintero. Timbers goalkeeper Steve Clark quickly recognized the danger, came off his line, and knocked the ball away followed by the Timbers defense clearing it away.

41' - CHANCE (POR) - Blanco, on the right top edge of the 18-yard box, threaded a shot that went just wide of the far post.

45+2' - DEFENSE (POR) - A Minnesota ball over the top found Quintero on the right side of the timbers defense. Mabiala raced back, got in good position, forced Quintero to the outside and ultimately poked the ball away into touch.

45+4' - CHANCE (POR) - Blanco, just atop the Loon's arc, curled a well-taken shot headed to the far upper 90 that clanged off the crossbar.

67' - CHANCE (POR) - Blanco switched the field from left to right to defender Jorge Moreira with a long ball. Moreira then spied Jeremy Ebobisse heading down the left channel and hit him with a long ball over the top that Ebobisse headed on frame forcing Mannone to palm it away.

70' - CHANCE (POR) - Blanco cut a ball back on the left side and sent a cross into Polo. Polo's header pinged off the right post and back but Mannone threw his hand out at the last moment to swat it away.

90+2' - CHANCE (POR) - On a late Timbers corner in to the box, Mabiala looped a header towards the back corner but Mannone jumped to make the save.

90+2' - SAVE (POR) - Minnesota's Molino found the ball on a turnover, and broke in on goal but Clark cut off the angle to make a kick save and preserve the shutout.
