Four Portland Timbers players called in for international duty

Moreira, Tuiloma, Zambrano, Polo, 11.6.19

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Timbers defenders Jorge Moreira (Paraguay) and Bill Tuiloma (New Zealand), as well as midfielders Renzo Zambrano (Venezuela) and Andy Polo (Peru) have been called up by their respective national teams for matches during the FIFA international break.


Moreira and Paraguay will take on Bulgaria at Vasil Levski National Stadium in Sofia, Bulgaria, on Thursday Nov. 14, beginning at 9 a.m. (Pacific). Five days later, Paraguay will face Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; kickoff is set for 9 a.m. (Pacific). Moreira, 29, has made 17 appearances for the Paraguay Men’s National Team.


Tuiloma, 24, will join the New Zealand Men’s National Team ahead of a friendly against the Republic of Ireland at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland, on Thursday, Nov. 14, at 12:45 p.m. (Pacific). Three days later, New Zealand will face Lithuania on Sunday, Nov. 17, at LFF Stadium in Vilnius, Lithuania; kickoff is set for 6 a.m. (Pacific). Tuiloma has logged 24 international appearances for New Zealand since making his debut in 2013.


Zambrano will join Venezuela as they face Japan in the Kirin Challenge Cup 2019 at Panasonic Stadium Suita in Osaka, Japan, on Tuesday, Nov. 19, beginning at 3:20 a.m. (Pacific). Zambrano, 25, has earned four caps for Venezuela, most recently making an appearance as a substitute in a friendly against Ecuador on June 2, 2019. 


Receiving his first call-up since being named to Peru’s CONMEBOL Copa América 2019 roster, Polo, 25, and Peru will face Colombia at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Fla., on Thursday, Nov. 14, beginning at 5:30 p.m. (Pacific), before hosting Chile on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at Estadio Nacional in Lima, Peru, at 5:30 p.m. (Pacific). Since making his international debut in 2016, Polo has earned 26 caps for Peru.
