PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers were the recipient of the 2019 Club Retailer of the Year award, it was announced recently by Major League Soccer.
The award was voted on by other Major League Soccer retail teams, as the Timbers won it for the second time in six years in recognition of the club’s outstanding departmental achievements under the direction of director of merchandising Kimberly Vrooman.
Relaunched as “PTFC Authentics”, the club effectively encompassed Portland Timbers and Portland Thorns FC brand identities, opening two brand new locations at Providence Park in 2019 before the Timbers hosted 17 MLS matches in 18 weeks.
Notably, the club raised over $21,000 in donations for community partners for the third time, setting a new record for most donations via community initiatives through their register donation program.
Through inventive product lines and the grand opening of their two locations, the Timbers achieved record sales in 2019 bolstered by exclusive, Portland-centric collections such as Arbor Day, the “The Oregon State Flag” and “PDX Carpet Hats”. Additionally, in 2019 the Timbers and Thorns FC partnered once again with iconic, local comic book publisher Dark Horse Comics to create player-specific superheroes in recognition of National Superhero Day.
