Timbers, Thorns FC to debut 'PTFC: From the Archives' series beginning March 21 on FOX 12

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers and Portland Thorns FC today announced the launch of a weekly broadcast series, “PTFC: From the Archives”, featuring historic and notable Timbers and Thorns FC matches, which will debut this weekend on FOX 12 (KPTV). 


“In this difficult time we will continue to strive to bring our supporters together as we find new and unique ways to connect with our fan base,” said Mike Golub, Timbers and Thorns FC president of business. “We are excited to be able to share some of the most exciting and important matches in the history of the Timbers and Thorns FC with the help of our tremendous broadcast partner FOX 12.”


Featuring Jake Zivin, Nat Borchers, Jack Jewsbury and other guests, matches will be broadcast weekly on Saturday and Sunday from 3-5 p.m. (Pacific) with Thorns FC matches on Saturday and Timbers matches on Sunday. Following each broadcast on FOX 12, the games will be made available at www.timbers.com and www.thornsfc.com to watch on-demand. After the first weekend of matches, fans will be able to vote on future matches to be broadcast each week.


The series will debut this weekend with the first-ever home game for the Timbers and Thorns FC. On March 21, tune in to watch the April 21, 2013 match as Thorns FC earned a 2-1 win over Cascadia rival Seattle Reign FC in the club’s first home match in NWSL history. On March 22, fans can relive the Timbers first home MLS match from April 14, 2011 – a 4-2 win over the Chicago Fire.
