#TimbersX | 10x10 | Chara, Nagbe lead way in games played vs Seattle

Diego Chara, 10x10, 5.19.20

Editor's Note: As part of the Portland Timbers celebration of their 10th season in MLS, Timbers.com will be doing unique content throughout the year that looks back at some of the more memorable moments of the team's history.
Mike Donovan, resident "Statman," has been doing a monthly series that highlights some of the more curious numbers, stats and moments of the #TimbersX years. For this edition, and as part of the special SEAvPDX week, he looks at one stat from the ten Timbers players who have played the most MLS matches against the Sounders. The players are listed in descending order by games played against Seattle.

22% When midfielder Diego Chara (21 regular season games vs. Seattle) scored a brace on April 5, 2014 against the Sounders, he became the first Timbers player ever with a birthday brace. Having now played 264 total regular season games, 22 percent of Chara's MLS goals came in that one match.

3 Darlington Nagbe (20 games) is just one of two players in Timbers team history to have scored in the regular season, playoffs, and U.S. Open Cup against the Sounders, along with Diego Valeri. Nagbe is the only Timbers player ever (all eras) to score on the road against Seattle in both the playoffs and the U.S. Open Cup.

8A In addition to his collection of goals against the Sounders, Valeri (18 games) has delivered eight assists in league play against Seattle. Since the Sounders joined MLS in 2009, no player has notched more assists against them than Valeri.

328 In the club's August 30, 2015 match at Seattle, Jack Jewsbury (15 games) scored in the second half to end a 328-minute scoreless streak for Portland in regular-season matches at CenturyLink Field. The goal was the last road goal of Jewsbury's MLS career.

19 On August 25, 2013, Alvas Powell (12 games) became the youngest Timbers player to take the field against the Sounders at 19 years and 38 days old. Cristhian Paredes is the only other Timbers player who has played against Seattle as a teenager in MLS play.

8G Since the first meeting between the clubs in 1975, no Timbers player has scored more goals against their rival than Fanendo Adi (11 games). Adi's eight goals versus Seattle are one more than the seven scored by USL-era player Byron Alvarez.

90+ In addition to his extra-time goal against Seattle in the U.S. Open Cup, two of the three MLS goals Rodney Wallace (10 games) has against Seattle came in second-half stoppage time. Wallace is the only Timbers player to score three goals against the Sounders after the 90th minute.

9 No central defender has played more games for Portland against Seattle than Liam Ridgewell (9 games). In addition to his nine regular season games, Ridgewell also played the full 210 minutes against the Sounders in the two playoff games between the clubs in 2018.

1 Midfielder Kalif Alhassan (8 games) delivered the assist on Nagbe's playoff goal at Seattle, the only playoff goal or assist in Alhassan's career. In addition, Alhassan scored once and had an assist in regular-season play against the Sounders.

2 Perpetual late season hero Dairon Asprilla (8 games) is one of two Timbers players in all eras of the club score a playoff extra-time goal against the Sounders. The only other Timber to do so was Tony Betts, who scored the game-winning goal in Portland's first-ever playoff game in 1975.
