On the first, the Jamaican defender dribbled the ball from the halfway line, weaving his way through defenders, before firing home. Powell's cross in the 23rd minute found Diego Valeri, giving Powell his second ever match with both a goal and an assist.

55Career Mark – On Portland's third goal, Valeri earned a secondary assist for his 55th regular season assist, which placed him in a tie for most assists ever by a Timbers player. The midfielder currently has 81 assists, 26 more than any other Timbers player ever.
15Home Cookin' – The victory ensured a continuation of the club's long unbeaten streak in home openers. Dating back to Portland's time in the USL, the Timbers went 15 straight home openers without a loss with a record of 10-0-5.
