Quick Strikes | As quarterfinals approach, Timbers and Savarese have history with NYC

After advancing with a shootout victory over FC Cincinnati in the Round of 16, the Portland Timbers will again take on an Eastern Conference opponent when they face New York City FC on Saturday in the quarterfinals of the MLS is Back Tournament Knockout Stage presented by Audi (7:30pm PT, FS1). Here are five numbers to know for #PORvNYC in the latest edition of Quick Strikes. 

4X3The match will be the fourth different quarterfinals match over the last three seasons for the Timbers. Portland also reached at least the quarterfinals in the 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs and the 2018 and 2019 U.S. Open Cup competitions. 

295 Portland has three straight victories over NYCFC with shutout wins in 2017, 2018, and 2019. The Timbers haven't conceded a goal to the club in their last 295 minutes against each other. 

4 Head Coach Giovanni Saverese has taken on New York City FC in four different matches as a manager with both the Timbers and the New York Cosmos. Savarese has never lost to NYCFC with three wins and one penalty kick shootout win. 

331 Tuesday's match against FC Cincinnati was the 331st match for the Timbers in an MLS competition (regular season, postseason, and MLS is Back Tournament). It was the first time in those 331 matches that the club finished a game with a passing accuracy of 90 percent or higher. 

4A For the first time in his professional career, Sebastián Blanco has delivered assists in four consecutive matches. Blanco has the second-most assists in the MLS is Back Tournament, which is the second-most in the competition.
