MATCH RECAP | Los Angeles FC 4, Portland Timbers 2

LOS ANGELES – Despite goals from midfielder Eryk Williamson – his second in as many games – and forward Jeremy Ebobisse, the Portland Timbers lost 4-2 to Los Angeles FC Sunday night at the Banc of California Stadium. 




Match Moments

25' - (GOAL) - Timbers went up 1-0 in the 25th minute as Diego Valeri cut a ball back to Felipe Mora atop the 18-yard box. Mora turned to his right and nutmegged a pass through an LAFC defender to Eryk Williamson. Williamson charged forward, cut the ball back to his left foot, and slotted his shot into the back of the net. It was Williamson's second goal in as many games.

37' - GOAL (LAFC) - LAFC's Mark-Anthony Kaye equalized off a flicked on ball to the back post following a corner kick to make 1-1.


41' - GOAL (LAFC) - The home side went up 2-1 four minutes later as a ball played out left found Diego Rossi who raced in and fired a ball past Portland goalkeeper Steve Clark.


45+1' - GOAL (LAFC) - LAFC made it 3-1 on a broken set piece. A free kick from outside the box caromed off of the wall and out to Francisco Ginella. Ginella threaded a pass to the middle for Los Angeles forward Bradley Wright-Phillips where he tapped it in.


45+2' - GOAL (POR) - In the final seconds of the first half, Portland pulled a goal back. Defender Jorge Villafaña worked the left side before lofting a perfect ball over the top towards the LAFC penalty spot. Jeremy Ebobisse jumped high and looped a header into the far corner to make the score 3-2. 

50' - CHANCE (POR) - Valeri sent in a free kick from the left sideline that found defender Dario Zuparic on the back post. Zuparic headed his ball down but it was saved off the line by an LAFC defender.

62' - CHANCE (POR) - Valeri hammered a 20-yard free kick from just outside the LAFC box that flew past the wall and clanged off the right post.

69' - CHANCE (POR) - Jaroslaw Niezgoda, who had just subbed on a minute before, took a ball down on the right side of goal, nutmegged a defender and then cut it back for Valeri atop the box. Valeri played it out left to Yimmi Chara. Chara's shot deflected back to Valeri whose final shot was saved by LAFC goalkeeper Pablo Sisniega.


90+5' - GOAL (LAFC) - With Portland playing high upfield looking for an equalizer, Los Angeles' Danny Musovski scored a goal late in second-half stoppage to make the score 4-2 for the home side.
