Champions of Play, presented by Allstate, aims to improve the amount and quality of equipment available to K-5 Physical Education programs in Portland metro area school districts. New equipment for play will be donated to each school included in the program. The equipment will be delivered by a PTFC representative to excite the children, remind them how important staying active every day is, and name them Champions of Play! Application HERE.
Following the Thorns’ postgame walk around the pitch recognizing the crowd, our “Girls of the Game” present bouquets of roses to each of the players that score goals and our keeper when she records a shutout. These inspiring “Girls of the Game” are young women who are selected by our Stand Together partners for their outstanding work and dedication to the organization.

Stand Together hosts the “Girl Strong” clinic at Providence Park to encourage young women to lead healthy lives and be positive role models in their community. The girls are treated to a day of empowerment, play on the pitch, a tour of the Providence Sports Care Center and very special meet and greet's with some of their favorite Thorns players. Watch the 2017 recap.

The Portland Timbers and Thorns were instrumental in bringing a Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) chapter to the city of Portland. PCA is committed to developing “Better Athletes, Better People” by providing all youth and high school athletes a positive, character-building youth sports experience. Stand Together will offer a number of workshops, trainings and resources to coaches and athletes through the state of Oregon.

“Rose City Readers”, presented by Unitus Community Credit Union, magnifies the importance of children reading at their grade level and furthering their education. Studies show students who read by third grade are four times more likely to graduate on time, succeed in college and careers, and contribute to society. Because of this, Timber Joey and our players are dedicated to visiting schools in our community and motivating students to read.

Each year for the annual Rose City United match, teams representing the Portland Police Bureau and Portland Fire & Rescue face off in a charitable soccer match. Originating in 2014, the annual Rose City United match honors the dedication and hard work that both agencies provide to serve and protect the city. Match attendees are strongly encouraged to bring a charitable donation of non-perishable food for the Portland Police Bureau’s Sunshine Division, a children’s toy for Portland Fire & Rescue Toy N Joy Makers, or a cash donation, which will be split between the two charities.

This exclusive Stand Together x OMSI collaboration teaches a select number of “soccer scientists” how to break down the game of soccer through the lenses of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The experience offers exclusive access to Providence Park, OMSI as well as behind-the-scenes tours of the adidas North America Headquarters and Providence Sports Care Center. Students learn by engaging in science experiments, problem solving, informational field trips and exchanging ideas. The experience will be offered again in Summer 2018. Space is limited, so don't wait to sign up! Watch 2017 recap.
