PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Timbers2 (14-4-8, 54pts) extended their historic, league-best, single-season shutout record to 14 in a scoreless draw against Cascadia rivals Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 (6-15-5, 27pts) at Providence Park on Monday afternoon. The result also extends Portland’s current unbeaten streak to a 10th straight match.
Whitecaps FC 2 prevailed in the penalty kick shootout, 4-3.
T2 remains at home to host St. Louis CITY2 in their third of three straight matches at Providence Park on Sunday, Sept. 13.
Double-digit Records
Timbers2 extended their MLS NEXT Pro-best unbeaten streak to 10 matches (6-0-4), last suffering a defeat back on June 27. Since then, T2 has outscored opponents 14-5, including six shutout results.
