Timbers2 fall in road match against Tacoma Defiance

TUKWILA, Wash. –Timbers2 were unable to overcome an early first-half deficit, falling 4-0 on the road to the Tacoma Defiance at Starfire Sports Stadium on Monday night.With three games remaining on the schedule, Portland is seven points out of a playoff position with games against Houston Dynamo 2 (Sept. 10), LAFC 2 (Sept. 15) and Real Monarchs (Sept. 24).

Goal-Scoring Plays

TAC – Sota Kitahara (Braudílio Rodrigues), 2nd minute: Tacoma won the ball back just outside the box. Braudílio Rodrigues played a short pass to Sota Kitahara, who fired a shot from 25 yards out that took a deflection and skipped past the outstretched arms of Portland goalkeeper Hunter Sulte. 

TAC - Braudílio Rodrigues (Blake Bowen), 22nd minute: Blake Bowen found Rodrigues inside the box on the left side. Rodrigues dribbled to the corner of the six-yard box and sent the ball into the right side of the goal.

TAC – Paul Rothrock (Blake Bowen), 48th minute: Bowen received a long pass from his goalkeeper just past midfield and delivered an outside of the foot pass behind Portland’s backline. Paul Rothrock ran into the space and beat Sulte coming off his line toward the top of the box, poking the ball around the onrushing Sulte just inside the left post.

TAC – Paul Rothrock (Raul Miglietti), 75th minute: Rothrock and Raul Miglietti combined at the edge of the box with a quick give-and-go. Rothrock took the ball into the box and curled his shot into the bottom right corner of the goal.
