Club earns honor for first the first time in 2026, Joseph receives his second award this season
PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Timbers2 has been named the MLS NEXT Pro Team of the Month while goalkeeper Sam Joseph has been named Goalkeeper of the Month for August, the league announced today. The club earns the honor for the first time this season while Joseph reins in his second award of the season.
In the month of August, T2, earned 10 of 12 possible points, going undefeated in all four games (2-0-2) while recording two shootout wins. Notably, the club earn two clean sheets, setting a new MLS NEXT Pro record at 13 in a single season. Additionally, Timbers2 made club history by securing an MLS NEXT Pro playoff berth for the first time in its five seasons in the league.
Joseph named Goalkeeper of the Month
Joseph earns the Goalkeeper of the Month award for the second time this season and in back-to-back months. Over the month of August, the shot-stopper amassed 13 total saves and kept two clean sheets. On August 30, Joseph made a stoppage-time penalty-kick save against league-leaders Austin FC II, helping T2 secure a 2-1 comeback victory.
